Abigale Lee
Miller(born September 21 1965) is an American dance instructor, choreographer,
and reality television personality. Abby Lee Dance Company is her creation,
which was a reality show that aired for eight seasons on Dance Moms. Miller
pleaded guilty on June 27, 2016 to felony bankruptcy fraud. Miller was
sentenced to a year and a day in federal prison and released on the 27th of
March, 2018. The diagnosis of lymphoma was made in April 2018. This is a type
of cancer that renders you unable walk. She is confined to a wheelchair for
mobility. Miller was born in Penn Hills, Pennsylvania. She was a dancer , and
was a student under her mother at Maryen Lorrain Dance Studio. In the year
1980, aged 14 years old, Miller was given the responsibility to choreograph and
coach one of her mother's dance competition teams. Miller became the sole owner
of the studio and renamed Reign Dance Productions in 1995. Miller was certified
by Dance Masters of America, and was a part of Dance Masters of Pennsylvania
Chapter 10 (February 1986). However, DMA terminated her membership in February
2012, citing that Miller's reality TV show Dance Moms was a "complete
false representation of the teachers we have and their students" and was
harmful to the profession.
